Use the latest version of the utility, which is available for download from your account at <a href=\"https:\/\/roomalert.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RoomAlert.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Follow these steps to recover your Room Alert firmware.<\/h3>\n<div class=\"su-accordion su-u-trim\">\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Step 1: Download AVTECH's Device Discovery utility and the latest firmware for your unit.<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>Download (1) AVTECH&#8217;s Device Discovery utility and (2) the latest firmware for your unit from your <a href=\"https:\/\/roomalert.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RoomAlert.com<\/a> account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">This FAQ shows you how: <a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/51\/download-firmware-software-roomalert-com-account\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How To Download Firmware &amp; Software From Your RoomAlert.com Account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Install the utility on the computer that you&#8217;ll connect your Room Alert to, but don&#8217;t open the utility yet.<\/p>\n<p>Save the firmware file somewhere on your computer that you can easily find. You won&#8217;t do anything with it yet, but you&#8217;ll need to have it on hand for later.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Step 2: If you have AVTECH's Device ManageR software installed on your computer, stop the Device ManageR service.<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>If you have AVTECH&#8217;s Device ManageR software installed on your computer, temporarily stop the Device ManageR service as it can interfere with the firmware recovery process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">This FAQ shows you how:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/140\/how-to-stop-start-and-restart-the-device-manager-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How To Stop, Start And Restart The Device ManageR Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not sure whether it&#8217;s installed or not, follow the first step of the FAQ above\u2014if you don&#8217;t see <em>AVTECH Device ManageR<\/em> in the list of services, you&#8217;ll know it&#8217;s not installed.<\/p>\n<p>Once you are done with the recovery process, you may restart the Device ManageR service.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Step 3: Set your computer at a static IP.<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>You&#8217;ll need to set the static IP on your computer so that it can see the Room Alert monitor once it&#8217;s connected. What static IP you set depends on your Room Alert&#8217;s network settings:<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-row\">\n<div class=\"su-column su-column-size-1-2\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<div class=\"su-box su-box-style-default\" id=\"\" style=\"border-color:#bbbcc3;border-radius:5px\"><div class=\"su-box-title\" style=\"background-color:#eeeff6;color:#305d8c;border-top-left-radius:3px;border-top-right-radius:3px\">If your Room Alert is on DHCP (the default) . . .<\/div><div class=\"su-box-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"border-bottom-left-radius:3px;border-bottom-right-radius:3px\">\n<p>If you&#8217;ve left your Room Alert&#8217;s network settings at the default (or just reset it to factory defaults), your Room Alert will assign itself a random 169.254.xxx.xxx address when connected to your computer. Disconnect your Room Alert Monitor from your regular network and from power.<\/p>\n<p>2. Connect your Room Alert to the Ethernet port on your computer. (Ideally, you&#8217;d do this with a crossover cable, but a regular Ethernet cable will probably work as well.)<\/p>\n<p>3. Do not connect the unit to power yet. You&#8217;ll do that soon, but not yet.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-anchor=\"open-device_discovery\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Step 6: Open Device Discovery, connect your Room Alert to power and follow the on-screen prompts.<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>1. Open Device Discovery. You may open it by navigating to <strong>Start<\/strong>\u2192 <strong>AVTECH Device Discovery Utility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>2. Connect your Room Alert to power using the AVTECH 5V power adapter that came with the unit. The Ethernet ports on computers do not provide PoE, so you will need to use that power adapter to power the unit.<\/p>\n<p>3. Device Discovery should immediately display the <em>Recover Firmware?<\/em> dialog box:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Recover_Firmware_Alert.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2289\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Recover_Firmware_Alert.jpg\" alt=\"Recover_Firmware_Alert\" width=\"300\" height=\"215\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Recover_Firmware_Alert.jpg 318w, https:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Recover_Firmware_Alert-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>If this prompt doesn\u2019t appear, try power-cycling your unit. (Disconnect the power cord for your unit, wait 10 seconds, and then reconnect it.) The prompt should then appear.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>4. Select <strong>OK<\/strong>. A page of instructions for firmware recovery will appear in your browser.<\/p>\n<p>5. The <em>Enter MAC Address<\/em> dialog box should then appear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; In the box,&nbsp;enter your Room Alert\u2019s 12-character MAC Address in this format (including the hyphens): XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>You can find your MAC address printed on a sticker on the bottom of your unit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Then select <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Enter_MAC_Address_Alert2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2857\" src=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Enter_MAC_Address_Alert2.jpg\" alt=\"Enter_MAC_Address_Alert\" width=\"250\" height=\"112\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>If this prompt doesn\u2019t appear,&nbsp;please see the <a href=\"#note\">note at the end of this FAQ<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>6. Your Room Alert will reboot and appear in the list of discovered devices when AVTECH Device Discovery next scans your network.<\/p>\n<p>11. Once your Room Alert has fully rebooted:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the unit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Connect the unit normally to your network.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Power-cycle the unit again. (Disconnect it from power, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect it to power.)<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Step 7: Perform a firmware update on your Room Alert Monitor.<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>Update the firmware to your Room Alert unit (even if it&#8217;s already on the latest version).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">This FAQ shows you how:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/avtech.com\/articles\/164\/update-firmware-room-alert-monitors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How To Update Firmware On Room Alert Monitors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-plus su-spoiler-closed\" data-anchor=\"note\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span>Note<\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>The Device Discovery utility may recover your unit without your having to go through the entire process shown above.<\/p>\n<p>If you get to <a href=\"#open-device_discovery\">Step 6<\/a>, but don\u2019t see the <em>Enter MAC Address<\/em> dialog box, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. Close the Device Discovery utility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. Disconnect your Room Alert from power and the Ethernet cable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. Reconnect your Room Alert to Ethernet first and then to power.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">4. Open the Device Discovery utility and select <strong>Search<\/strong> to search for devices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">5. If your unit appears with an IP address outside your network\u2019s range:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; Select your unit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; Select <strong>Set IP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; Assign a static IP address or enter 0.0.0.0 to use DHCP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8211; Allow your unit to automatically reboot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">6. Double-click on your unit in Device Discovery to open its web interface and make sure it\u2019s up and running.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">7. Update your unit\u2019s firmware.
